Ruiz Put in Cooler, Hitless Against Tampa
Monday, September 15th , 2025
Jorge Ruiz saw his 20-game hitting streak wither and die during the Lakeland Flying Tigers win over Tampa at George M. Steinbrenner Field. The 21-year-old left fielder was held hitless in 3 at-bats by the Tampa Tarpons, but his teammates produced enough offense to win the game, 3-0.

"Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit," a seemingly upbeat Ruiz told reporters in the clubhouse. "But really, how could you be unhappy after you hit in 20 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. Life is good."

At the moment, Ruiz is batting .405 with 6 home runs and 67 RBIs. He has played in 95 games and scored 98 times.
