Dunedin Advances to Round 2 Friday, September 26th , 2025 Dunedin catcher Dario Laverde couldn't hide his reaction when asked about being named MVP of the Round 1. "It's a nice honor," he said, failing to suppress a wide smile. The trophy was presented to Laverde moments after his club eliminated the Bradenton Marauders to advance to the Round 2. Dunedin won the final game by a score of 7-2 at TD Ballpark and took the series 4-2. "We won the series and that's the main thing," Laverde said. "They were a tough team and we didn't want to take anything for granted." For the series, Laverde hit .500 with a .552 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 7 RBI and scored 6 runs. "He was tough to stop and that's a big reason they're there and we're here," said a dejected Bradenton manager . The Dunedin Blue Jays will play against the Lakeland Flying Tigers in the next round. Lakeland won their series against the Palm Beach Cardinals 4 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
