Tarpons Heading to Round 2
Wednesday, September 18th , 2024
The Round 1 may not have lived up to the expectation that it would be a dogfight that would go the distance. The Tampa Tarpons, however, are not complaining.
The Tarpons were plenty happy to have wrapped up the series early and to have knocked out the Jupiter Hammerheads to advance to the Round 2.
Tampa won the final game by a 3-1 count at Roger Dean Stadium and the series 4-2.
Tarpons designated hitter Jim Unknown was named series MVP, as he hit .750 with a .800 on-base percentage. He added 1 home runs, drove in 1 RBI and scored 1 runs.
"It's not going to be the last time Jupiter makes it to the playoffs, so it's sure a nice feeling to put them out this year," Unknown said. "We just need to keep this going and take it day by day."
The Tampa Tarpons will play against the Lakeland Flying Tigers in the next round. Lakeland won their series against the Bradenton Marauders 4 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
