Garcia Cracks 5 Hits
Wichita shortstop Maikel Garcia had a big day at Riverfront Stadium today against the Amarillo Sod Poodles. The 23-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-6 and led the Wind Surge to a 33-1 triumph over Amarillo.

"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Garcia said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."

Maikel Garcia singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Hector Perez in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 4th and hit a three-run double in the 5th.

This season Garcia has hit at a .354 clip with 14 RBIs, 3 home runs and 19 runs scored. He has played in 21 games.
