When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 5-hit day and the IronPigs had a win, 19-1. Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 22-year-old shortstop said, "Get 5 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this." Marcelo Mayer grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th. This season, Mayer is batting .308 with 11 home runs. He has scored 81 runs and driven in 79. |
