Columbus Snaps Garcia Jr. Streak at 27
Tuesday, July 1st , 2025
It was the best of both worlds for the Columbus Clippers at Huntington Park, as they defeated the Toledo Mud Hens, 12-1, and also snapped Luis Garcia Jr.'s 27-game hitting streak. The 25-year-old Toledo second baseman failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats.
"Nothing personal against Garcia Jr., we just wanted to win the game," said Clippers skipper . "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Garcia Jr. frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won."
Thus far in 2025, Garcia Jr. is hitting .434 with 11 home runs, 51 RBIs, 55 runs scored and has compiled a .498 OBP.
