Alford Blasts 3 out of the Park Saturday, June 8th , 2024 It was a special day for Anthony Alford, but less so for the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. Alford slammed three home runs against the Rochester Red Wings, but the Red Wings outhit him and got the win by a score of 18-8. "Lately, I been uppercutting the ball too much. I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark," he said to sportswriters after the game. "No big long outs for me in this game -- I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot three times. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em." The Jacksonville left fielder finished the day at Frontier Field with 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 7 RBI and 3 runs scored. Anthony Alford hit a two-run home run off Keyvius [UNRATED] Sampson in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Keyvius [UNRATED] Sampson in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Ben Brecht in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and walked in the 9th.
