Garcia Strokes 3 HR Against Nashville
Wednesday, July 17th , 2024
Columbus Clippers first baseman Dermis Garcia sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Nashville Sounds, Garcia told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from Garcia pushed the Clippers past the Sounds, 8-0. To go along with the homers, he collected 6 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Garcia told reporters after the game.
Dermis Garcia hit a solo-shot off Josiah Gray in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Josiah Gray in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Ian Bedell in the 4th, singled in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
This year, Garcia is hitting .355 with 27 home runs and 80 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .453 clip and scored 78 runs.
