After a 5-hit effort to lead Lehigh Valley's 14-4 victory over the Norfolk Tides, first baseman Jordan Diaz told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Triple-A East-level is really something special."

The 24-year-old player earned his accolades at Harbor Park with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Tides.

"His swing is getting there," said IronPigs skipper , who spoke glowingly of Diaz after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Jordan did that to perfection."

Jordan Diaz hit a two-run home run off Trevor Martin in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 5th, singled in the 6th, flied out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 9th.

Thus far this season, Diaz is hitting .419 with 5 home runs, 15 RBIs and 12 runs scored. He has 18 hits in 43 at-bats and has played in 10 games.
