Ray Tags 3 HR Against Tides Wednesday, September 11th , 2024 It was a good day for the Iowa Cubs and an exceptional one for Corey Ray. The 29-year-old center fielder sent three bombs out of the park to help the Cubs beat the Norfolk Tides, 14-4, at Harbor Park. "When you're in the zone, the game really slows down," Ray said when asked about his performance later. "I couldn't even tell you what pitches were thrown. Today feels great, but it is a long season and tomorrow is another day." For the day, he scored 3 times, drove in 4 runs and smacked 3 hits in 5 at-bats. Corey Ray hit a solo-shot off Cody Bradford in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Cody Bradford in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th. For the season, Ray is batting .264 with 122 hits and 15 home runs. He has scored 59 times and batted in 66. |
