5-Hit Barrage by Montero Wednesday, August 6th , 2025 Sacramento first baseman Elehuris Montero could do no wrong today, but the River Cats could. Montero collected 5 hits against the Tacoma Rainiers, but he couldn't win the game. Sacramento fell, 12-10, in extra innings at Cheney Stadium. "It's a shame we didn't win," Montero said later. "It would have been a very special day if that had happened." "In every one of his at-bats, things were in his favor," Rainiers manager said. "We couldn't keep him from getting ahead in the count and once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get better pitches to hit." Elehuris Montero flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. Looking at his season stats, Montero has compiled a .344 batting average and a .452 on-base percentage, while hitting 28 home runs and driving in 119 runs. |
