Tellez 5-for-6 for Albuquerque
Wednesday, May 22nd , 2024
Rowdy Tellez was at the head of a Albuquerque Isotopes hit parade at Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park. The 29-year-old went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the Sugar Land Skeeters that marched off with the 12-11 win.
"We didn't have it today," griped Isotopes skipper following the game. "Rowdy did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching."
Tellez did more than fine, dominating the Skeeters at the plate during his record-making 5-for-6 performance.
"Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging first baseman told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."
Rowdy Tellez struck out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Ljay Newsome in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th, walked in the 9th, singled in the 11th and hit a solo-shot off Josh Fleming in the 13th.
So far this year, Tellez is hitting .343 with 13 home runs.
