Graceffo Gets No-Hitter Against Birmingham Saturday, September 21st , 2024 Mississippi Braves starter Gordon Graceffo came up big at Trustmark Park with an exceptional 1-0 win against the Birmingham Barons. Not only did he whip them, but Graceffo held them hitless, too. "My arm was a bit sore in warmups," confessed Graceffo. "Sometimes you go out there and you're not feeling all that hot. You get into the game and all of a sudden in the seventh inning you look up and see the scoreboard and think to yourself, 'Oh, my goodness, I have a no-hitter!' You're so focused on what you're doing, it just happens." In the course of the no-hitter, Graceffo collected 11 strikeouts and surrendered 1 walk -- a day good enough to get his name in the history books. Graceffo has started 28 times this year, pitched 139.2 innings, fanned 162 batters and walked 39. His current record is 9 wins and 9 losses with a 4.90 ERA. |
