Salas Batters Northwest Arkansas Big Time
Wednesday, July 2nd , 2025
The Northwest Arkansas Naturals downed the Amarillo Sod Poodles, 10-6, at Arvest Ballpark, in spite of the best efforts of Amarillo catcher Ethan Salas. Salas lashed the ball all over the park in a 5-hit explosion, finishing with a 5-for-5 line -- and a loss.
"I don't remember a better day batting, but it sure is disappointing to lose the game," he said to BNN reporters in the postgame interview. "A win would have made the day much sweeter."
Asked if he would adjust his strategy next time the Naturals face Salas, Northwest Arkansas manager said "absolutely not."
"Our strategy was to not give him good pitches to hit," he said. "We didn't do that, and he worked us over. Thankfully, we won anyway, and next time we'll pitch to him better."
Ethan Salas singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Jacob Zibin in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season, Salas has posted a batting average of .392 with 74 hits in 189 at-bats, 5 home runs and 30 RBIs. He has also scored 32 runs, walked 18 times and compiled a .448 OBP.
