5 Hits for Hooks Martin Saturday, June 29th , 2024 At Hodgetown, Richie Martin of the Corpus Christi Hooks put on a hitting clinic. He banged out 5 hits in 6 at-bats and mauled the Amarillo Sod Poodles pitching staff, but Corpus Christi still came up short on the scoreboard. The Hooks went home with the 9-8 loss, in spite of a standout 5-hit performance from their shortstop. "Hey, it's great to get that many hits in a game, but it would have been nice to win the game, too," Martin said in the postgame interview. Richie Martin singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and struck out in the 9th. Martin is hitting .237 so far this season with 17 RBIs and 22 runs scored. He has 42 hits including 1 home run, 22 walks and .348 OBP. |
