A+ W Awards Most Valuable Player Award, Alcantara Gets Prize

He may have less experience than most of his High-A West peers, but that didn't slow Marvin Alcantara down at all in 2024.
At the age of 19, the Spokane second baseman has been named the winner of the High-A West Most Valuable Player Award.
He had a .333 batting average and a .435 on-base percentage this year. In 118 games he piled up 154 hits, 30 doubles, 2 triples, 11 home runs, 60 RBIs and 72 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."
He received 5 first place votes out of a possible 6. Jeffry Rosa of the Spokane Indians finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Pablo Guerrero of the Spokane Indians finished third.
