Rock No-Hits Bowling Green
Tuesday, July 9th , 2024
It was a fantastic day for Wilmington Blue Rocks starter Joe Rock and a lousy day for the Bowling Green Hot Rods.
The Wilmington hurler's pitching artistry completely befuddled and bewildered the Hot Rods, as the Blue Rocks cruised to a 1-0 win. When it was all over, Rock was credited with one of the rarer feats in baseball -- a no-hitter.
"The ball was moving and darting, and best of all, going where I wanted it to go," Rock said later.
He rang up 15 strikeouts and allowed 1 walk while shutting Bowling Green down at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium.
To date this season, Rock has a record of 11 wins and 3 losses and a 1.10 ERA. He has appeared in 18 games and struck out 179 in 115 innings.
