Tourists Prevail, as Round 1 Goes to the Wire
Thursday, September 19th , 2024
In a series that goes the distance, the difference is often the efforts of one player.
In the Round 1, that difference-maker was Asheville Tourists starting pitcher Ricardo Yan, as his team downed the Winston-Salem Dash 4-3, with the final game a 1-0 win at Truist Stadium.
"I've never been as focused as I was in this series," Yan said after the deciding game. "There was only one thing that mattered and that was to get us the win. It makes it worth all the hard work to be able to knock Winston-Salem out and move on to the Round 2."
For the series, Yan had a 0.00 ERA over 13.1 innings pitched, with 19 strikeouts and a 2-0 record.
The Asheville Tourists will play against the Wilmington Blue Rocks in the next round. Wilmington won their series against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws 4 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
