Cubs Move on to Round 2 Monday, September 18th , 2023 Fans of the Quad Cities River Bandits groaned when Shane Sasaki stepped up to the plate in the Round 1. And for good reason too, as the South Bend Cubs player was instrumental in guiding his team to a 4-1 series win over the River Bandits. The series was clinched tonight at Modern Woodmen Park, with South Bend coming out on top 9-3 in the deciding game. Sasaki's strong series included a .476 batting average, with a .478 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 4 runs. The South Bend Cubs don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the West Michigan Whitecaps - Great Lakes Loons series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
