A+ C News Flash: The Offseason Begins

With the High-A Central playoffs settled and a new champion crowned, it might appear as though baseball is ready to slink into hibernation until next year. Instead, the offseason begins today, bringing a different flurry of activity. Trades and roster moves will continue over the next several months as teams look for that magic combination that will find them playing for next year's championship.
In baseball, nothing stands still and general managers can't afford to take this time off, lest they find themselves sitting in the unemployment line next year at this time. So while players are finally resting away some of their aches and pains, General Managers had better be ready to act!

West Michigan Tops Cedar Rapids

This is the time of the baseball season when grown men are reduced to tears. This year, the West Michigan Whitecaps were shedding tears of joy and the Cedar Rapids Kernels those of sorrow.
The Whitecaps topped the Kernels today 10-3 at Veterans Memorial Stadium and locked up their 3rd High-A Central Round 2 championship, winning the series 4-1.
"To come this far and leave empty-handed is not easy," said Cedar Rapids manager .
The Whitecaps finished the regular season in the East with a 116-24 record, ending up in first place in the division standings.
