Guzman Grabs A+ C Reliever of the Year

2023 was a year to remember for Jorge Guzman.

The Quad Cities River Bandits closer was the owner of a 2.26 ERA this season over 87.2 innings of work. He made 63 relief appearances and had 25 saves, 95 strikeouts, 27 walks and a record of 10 wins and 3 losses.


He's also now got some hardware, as the 27-year-old has been named the High-A Central Reliever of the Year winner.

"It's something I can tell my grandchildren some day, pretty special," he said.



He received 5 first place votes out of a possible 12. Williams Jerez of the South Bend Cubs finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Juan Then of the West Michigan Whitecaps finished third with 3 first place votes.
