Lara Smacks 5 Hits for Whitecaps Friday, June 13th , 2025 The West Michigan Whitecaps stopped the Quad Cities River Bandits by a score of 14-3 at LMCU Ballpark, with the lion's share of the credit going to right fielder Luis Lara. The 20-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits. "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Lara said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard." Lara did just that in his 6 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the River Bandits. "Not much that I can say," offered Quad Cities manager . "He just hammered the heck out of us." Luis Lara singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, walked in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and flied out in the 8th. Looking at his season stats, Lara has compiled a .452 batting average and a .583 on-base percentage, while hitting 1 home run and driving in 16 runs. |
