Figuereo Put in Cooler, Hitless Against Beloit Saturday, June 21st , 2025 For once, it was the West Michigan Whitecaps picking up the slack for Gleider Figuereo. The club's "offensive catalyst," as West Michigan manager has frequently called him, went uncharacteristically silent and saw his 24-game hitting streak snapped by the Beloit Snappers. Figuereo was bailed out by the rest of the Whitecaps, however, who stopped the Snappers, 11-0. The 20-year-old third baseman finished the day 0-for-4, and told reporters at the postgame press conference that "everybody did their job but me." "Not that it was a huge problem -- we still won the game," he said with a grin. "The streak was a good run though. I'll try to start another one tomorrow." For the season, Figuereo is hitting .431, batted in 42 runs with 6 home runs and 28 runs scored. |
