Cubs Heading to Round 2 Monday, September 16th , 2024 After eliminating the Beloit Snappers 8-1 in the Round 1 at Harry C. Pohlman Field, the victorious South Bend Cubs will now move on to the next round: the Round 2. South Bend beat Beloit 4-1 in the series. The MVP trophy was awarded to Cubs second baseman Michael Arroyo, who knocked in 6 runs, hit .400 and scored 3 times. "The guys were all chanting 'M-V-P' when I went into the clubhouse," Arroyo said later, with a smile. "It was kind of embarrassing but it feels great to be here." The South Bend Cubs don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the West Michigan Whitecaps - Great Lakes Loons series. Great Lakes leads the series 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
