Loons Move on to Round 2 Thursday, September 19th , 2024 The fans in Great Lakes are delirious, while there is little joy to be found in West Michigan. The Great Lakes Loons finished off the West Michigan Whitecaps 2-1 in the deciding game of the Round 1 played at Dow Diamond. They took the series 4-3 and will now head to the Round 2. For his standout play, Great Lakes catcher Daiverson Gutierrez was voted the series' Most Valuable Player. He batted .333, drove in 3 runs and scored 2 to lead his club to victory. "We could never really figure out how to pitch to Gutierrez and that doomed us," said Whitecaps manager . "Hats off to Great Lakes, though. That was a great series." The Great Lakes Loons will play against the South Bend Cubs in the next round. South Bend won their series against the Beloit Snappers 4 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
