Athletics Win at Seattle, 6-1
|
George Kirby, who finished 3rd in the AL in ERA with 3.42 last year, propelled his team to victory over the Seattle Mariners. The final score was 6-1, Oakland. Kirby picked up the win for Oakland, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 2-2. The loss lowers the Seattle record to 13-16.
Oakland used a well-timed hit by Josh Lowe to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Athletics ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"I found a nice groove out there," said Kirby.
