Yankees Prevail, as Wild Card Game Goes to the Wire

The joy and relief on the faces of the New York Yankees players was obvious as they celebrated their Wild Card Game win over the Chicago White Sox.

"In a series like this, the smallest thing can make the difference in how it turns out," said New York shortstop Taylor Walls, shortly after the 2-1 win that clinched the series 2-1. "We're happy we did what it takes to get it done."

The team is now off to the Division Series.

Walls won series MVP honors on the strength of his .375 batting average during the series. He also had a .500 on-base percentage and 1 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 1 runs.

The New York Yankees will play against the Oakland Athletics in the next round. Oakland had a bye in the Wild Card Game. The Division Series is scheduled to begin on October 3rd , 2025.

Cleveland Sweeps into the Division Series

It's a sweet sweep for the Cleveland Guardians and they have won the Wild Card Game. The Minnesota Twins were not able to keep pace with the Guardians and dropped the series in short order, losing, 5-4, in the deciding game.

"This wasn't really the effort we hoped for," said Minnesota manager Jonathan A.

It's now on to the Division Series for Cleveland after their 2-0 series win.

Leading the way for the winners was shortstop Masyn Winn, who was named MVP. For the series, Winn hit .571 with a .556 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 4 runs.

The Cleveland Guardians will play against the Detroit Tigers in the next round. Detroit had a bye in the Wild Card Game. The Division Series is scheduled to begin on October 3rd , 2025.

Phillies Advance to Division Series

The Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets didn't hold back anything in the Wild Card Game, with each team pulling out all the stops in an effort to advance to the Division Series.

Philadelphia won the final game by a score of 8-2 at Citizens Bank Park and that concluded the series, 2-1.

"Relief is the biggest thing," Philadelphia first baseman Pete Alonso said when asked how he felt. "It's a grind both mentally and physically to have a long series like this, but our guys stuck with it and New York deserves credit for the hard fight."

Alonso paced the Philadelphia offence and earned MVP honors. For the series, he hit .417 with a .462 on-base percentage, 3 home runs, 6 RBI and scored 3 runs.

The Philadelphia Phillies will play against the Miami Marlins in the next round. Miami had a bye in the Wild Card Game. The Division Series is scheduled to begin on October 3rd , 2025.
