Arizona turned a good effort from starter Eury Perez into a win over the New York Mets at Citi Field. The Diamondbacks won the game, 2-0. The winner was Perez. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Chayce McDermott. Mason Miller closed the door for Arizona, picking up his 5th save of the year.

Arizona used a timely hit from MJ Melendez to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Diamondbacks ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Arizona manager Mike R said.

The win has Arizona at 22-7.
