Kansas City and Tampa Bay duked it out and the Royals came out victorious.

The Kansas City Royals picked up a win at Tropicana Field, downing the Tampa Bay Rays, 7-5. On the mound for Kansas City was right-hander Dylan Cease, who played a pivotal role in the win. Cease got the win, improving to 4-2. He gave up 3 hits and walked 3 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs.

Rafael Devers had a big 2-run double for the Royals in the top of the fifth inning. With Kansas City leading 3-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Yariel Rodriguez and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Royals ahead, 5-0.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Devers.

The Rays are now 9-21.
