Behind the hitting of Ryan Mountcastle, the New York Mets stopped the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-5. Mountcastle went 2 for 4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Mets. Arizona falls to 22-9.

Cape Coral, Florida-born Alex Freeland came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Mets trailing 5-4, he hit a 2-run single to center to put New York on top.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Freeland.
