Giants Edge Red Sox, 6-5
|
San Francisco starter Logan Webb pitched well against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The right-hander led his team to a win, 6-5, in 10 innings. Chris Martin, now 2-0, was credited with the win in 1.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 0. The Giants, now 25-7, have been sizzling early on.
San Francisco needed the clutch hitting of Manny Machado to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Giants on top, 6-5. For the game, Machado had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Webb said.
