|
Tampa Bay picked up a win at Yankee Stadium, bumping off the New York Yankees, 3-2. Pitcher Tylor Megill was a major reason the Rays emerged victorious. Megill, now 2-1, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. By defeating New York, the last-place Rays improved to 12-22.
George Springer had a direct impact on the outcome. Springer contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth inning to put Tampa Bay up, 3-2.
"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said Megill.
