New York Upended by St. Louis, 6-5
|
St. Louis first baseman Anthony Rizzo played a vital role in his team's 6-5 conquest of New York. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs for St. Louis. St. Louis is now 15-20, New York 18-17.
St. Louis center fielder Wenceel Perez contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, he hit a slider to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 26th hit of the season and put the Cardinals ahead, 6-3.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Rizzo.
