Phillies Earn 12-7 Home Win
|
The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the San Francisco Giants, 12-7, in National League action at Citizens Bank Park. Philadelphia pitcher Vincent Velasquez had a standout performance. The win went to Caleb Thielbar in relief, making him now 1-0. Logan Allen took the loss for San Francisco. The win gives Philadelphia a season record of 22-13.
The Giants had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Phillies going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old right fielder Oscar Gonzalez came to the plate. Gonzalez hit a 2-run double on a 2-2 splitter from San Francisco hurler Logan Allen. It was Gonzalez's 7th double of the year.
"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Gonzalez.
