The Texas Rangers rode a solid performance from 29-year-old starting pitcher Keegan Thompson to a win, beating the Oakland Athletics, 4-1, at Oakland Coliseum. Camilo Doval picked up the save for Texas, his 6th of the year. The Athletics, now 20-16, have lost 4 in a row.

Texas used a clutch hit from Jake Fraley to get the win. The right fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rangers ahead, 4-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.

"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Fraley.
