Boston pitcher Tanner Houck had a large part in his team beating the Texas Rangers, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Boston is now 18-19, Texas 16-20.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Boston second baseman Jorge Polanco, facing Edwin Uceta, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Red Sox the 4-3 win.

"The effort we put into this one paid off," Polanco said.
