Oakland Beaten, 5-3, by Baltimore
|
Oakland got a decent performance from pitcher Braxton Garrett, but it wasn't enough to beat the Baltimore Orioles. Baltimore won the Oakland Coliseum contest, 5-3. Garrett threw 6.1 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. Today's win puts Baltimore at 16-22, while Oakland falls to 22-15.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Josh Jung came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Oakland pitcher Clay Holmes, he hit a first pitch cutter for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Baltimore on top, 5-3.
Baltimore manager Doc D commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
