3-2 Loss Extends Texas Losing Streak
The Detroit Tigers topped the Texas Rangers, 3-2, in American League action at Comerica Park. The standout performance belonged to Detroit pitcher and Azua, Dominican Republic, native Sandy Alcantara. Detroit now sits at 27-12, while Texas falls to 16-23.

The Rangers had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Tigers going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old center fielder Leody Taveras came to the plate. Taveras hit a 2-run home run on a 1-0 fastball from Texas hurler Matt Canterino. It was Taveras's 7th home run of the year.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Taveras.
