Kansas City and Boston duked it out and the Royals came out victorious.

The Kansas City Royals got a stellar effort from pitcher Aaron Nola, helping Kansas City score a win over the visiting Boston Red Sox, 5-2. The winning pitcher was Nola, now 5-1. He tossed 5.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 5.

The Red Sox had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Royals going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old left fielder Daulton Varsho came to the plate. Varsho hit a 2-run double on a 1-2 sinker from Boston hurler Tanner Houck. It was Varsho's 6th double of the year.

Varsho attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."

Kansas City is now 20-22, while Boston is 20-22.
