Astros Upend Dodgers, 4-2
|
The Los Angeles Dodgers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Gerrit Cole into a win. Instead, the Houston Astros prevailed, 4-2. Cole threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Mitch Spence earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-2. Penn Murfee picked up his 1st save of the season.
The Dodgers had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Astros going into the top of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the two-time All-Star Lars Nootbaar came to the plate. Nootbaar hit a solo home run on a 1-2 changeup from Los Angeles hurler Gerrit Cole. It was Nootbaar's 5th home run of the year.
"We'll keep riding this wave," said Nootbaar.
With the win over Los Angeles, the Astros improved to 26-18.
