Milwaukee had no answer for Minnesota Twins starter Ryan Pepiot, who flummoxed Brewers hitters as the Twins cruised to victory, 6-1. The win was credited to 27-year old right-handed pitcher Louie Varland in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Steven Matz took the loss. With the win, Minnesota pushed its record to 24-22.
Minnesota needed the clutch hitting of Evan Carter to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Twins on top, 3-1. For the game, Carter had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"It was a solid team effort," said Pepiot after the game.
