New York third baseman Alex Freeland helped his team beat the Boston Red Sox, 7-5. Freeland went 2 for 3 for the Mets. The save went to Tommy Kahnle, his 1st this season. New York raised its record to 28-20 with the win.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Bobby Witt Jr.? The New York shortstop had a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Mets on top, 5-3. For the game, Witt Jr. had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Witt Jr. said.
