Ohtani Helps Orioles Defeat Red Sox, 8-6
|
The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Boston Red Sox, 8-6, at Fenway Park. Leading the charge for Baltimore was designated hitter Shohei Ohtani. He went 4-4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The Orioles improved their record to 23-29 with the win over Boston.
In the top of the sixth, Baltimore first baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out, Encarnacion-Strand stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 4-2, Baltimore. For the game, he went 2 for 5 with 2 singles. He scored 2 runs.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Ohtani, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
