2-1 Giants Win over Tigers Evens Season Record
|
The Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants provided some drama for the home crowd.
The San Francisco Giants topped the Detroit Tigers, 2-1, in National League action at Comerica Park. The standout performance belonged to San Francisco pitcher and Mercer Island, Washington, native Matthew Boyd. Ryan Pressly nailed down his 13th save.
The Giants benefited from a costly error in the top of the fifth. With Francisco Lindor at bat and San Francisco leading 1-0, the Detroit miscue allowed San Francisco to plate 1 and take the lead, 2-0.
"Matthew did a good job keeping the game under control," said San Francisco manager Jason M.
The setback makes Detroit 40-17.
