New York third baseman Rafael Devers pounded Philadelphia Phillies pitchers at Citizens Bank Park, but it was not enough to keep the Mets from falling, 10-5, in Game 1 of the Wild Card Game. Devers went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3, though he couldn't keep the Mets from slipping to a 1-0 deficit in the best-of-3 series.

In the bottom of the fourth, Philadelphia catcher William Contreras had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Contreras stroked a run-scoring single to right. It made the score 3-1, Philadelphia. For the game, he went 1-2 with 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"We're one game closer to our goal," Philadelphia manager Jon C said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
