White Sox Edge Rockies, 8-7, to Open WS
|
The Chicago White Sox wasted no time taking the lead in the World Series, beating the Colorado Rockies at Colorado Field by the score of 8-7. The win gives Chicago a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. White Sox right-hander Zac Gallen threw 5.1 innings allowing 3 runs.
Ozhaino Albies, who finished 5th in the AL in OPS with .862 in 2021, helped out the Chicago cause in the top of the ninth inning with a solo home run. For the game, the second baseman was 2 for 5 with a home run and a triple, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Albies, "one at-bat at a time."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Colorado Field in Denver.
