Behind the hitting of Chas McCormick, the Miami Marlins stopped the Texas Rangers, 7-1. McCormick hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 4 for the Marlins. Shane Bieber, who led the NL in wins with 18 last year, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed no runs on 2 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. With the victory, the Marlins upped their record to 35-23.

Ceddanne Rafaela had a big 2-run double for the Marlins in the bottom of the second inning. With Miami leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Keegan Thompson and swatted a double to center. It was his 10th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Marlins ahead, 3-0.

"I was hoping to make good contact," said Rafaela. "I wasn't trying to knock the snot out of it."
