Milwaukee Stopped, 8-4, by Philadelphia
|
The Philadelphia Phillies downed the Milwaukee Brewers, 8-4, at Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies were led by William Contreras. Contreras went 2-5 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Nick Martinez was the winner. He's now 5-4. The loser was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Grayson Rodriguez. The National League East Division-leading Phillies have a record of 38-20.
Contreras contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Philadelphia in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-1, Contreras took a curveball from Grayson Rodriguez and stroked the home run to left-center. His 9th home run of the season allowed the Phillies to leap in front, 4-3.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Contreras told the Philadelphia Gazette.
