Red Sox Earn 6-4 Home Win
|
The Boston Red Sox withstood an impressive performance by Detroit right fielder Fernando Tatis to defeat the Tigers, 6-4, at Fenway Park. Tatis was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Kyle Wright picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 7-5. The win puts Boston at 31-28 this season.
Boston center fielder Leody Taveras contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 45th hit of the season and put the Red Sox ahead, 5-4.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Taveras, "and then get after it again."
