Mets Drop 2-1 Decision
|
New York wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Luis Ortiz, falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers, 2-1. Ortiz threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. The win belonged to Phil Bickford in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Luis Ortiz took the loss for New York. The save went to Ryan Fernandez, his 2nd this season.
The Mets had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Dodgers going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 30-year old right fielder Anthony Santander came to the plate. Santander hit a solo home run on a 1-2 slider from New York hurler Luis Ortiz. It was Santander's 14th home run of the year.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Los Angeles manager Jeff R.
Los Angeles now has a record of 30-30 with the win.
